It started, as most things do, with someone at the kitchen table saying: can I just say something?

We Have Thoughts is a home for the opinions that do not make the news. Whether a booth beats a table. Whether the cart really has to go back. What exactly a quick question is. These are the small matters that fill an actual day, and we believe they deserve a thorough and unreasonably serious hearing.

Our rules for having opinions

• Keep it friendly. We tease habits, and we are guilty of most of them.
• Keep it small. We do not do parties, candidates or causes. There is no side to take here except the side of the corral.
• Keep it kind. Nobody here is the villain, not even the person who reloads the dishwasher.

The shop

If you agree with us, or just like being seen having a stance, the shop has tees, mugs, hats and stickers. Every item gets made when you order it, by a print partner we trust.

The columns

New columns arrive when something annoys us enough, which is often. Disagree? Good. Tell us. We read every note and we occasionally change our minds, though never on booths.
